SUSTAINABLE LANDSCAPE AND GARDEN

We have one planet, nowhere else to go Let’s be humble and revere her with a bow Caring indeed is he who makes her very green For, she no doubt deserves to be the Queen Let’s join hands and be part of the solution And never do anything to cause pollution

MFSI nestles cozily in a tranquil and serene setting of a hamlet surrounded by lush green paddy fields. The MFSI garden adds flavor to this placid surrounding with its own fecund, green bed of flowering and non-flowering plants.

The plants have been meticulously chosen keeping in view to add to the aesthetics of the surroundings, as well as, to contribute to the academic knowledge of the students. Much research and time has been advocated in transforming the rock-filled land into a fecund bed of lush-green trees.

Planting has been done judiciously. As you drive into MFSI, Eco-blend signage, 7 majestic Date Trees, as well as, the Flame of the Forest welcomes you cordially.

You are greeted with a tastefully crafted park for our tiny tots on the left.

This park spreads itself magnificently into a well-equipped playground and gym, wherein children of the primary and senior wings and vent out their positive energy in frolic and fun.

The periphery of the school has been tastefully decorated with a variety of flowering, non-flowering and fruit-bearing trees housing around 150 different species. Steps have been taken to add a signboard carrying the name and a QR Code, when scanned, delivers a brief narration about that particular plant.

At the backyard, we have specially erected raised-beds for our students to plant their own saplings and seeds.  “A farmer is an evergreen student, while a student is a promising farmer!” Students beam joyfully when they proudly display their hard work while reaping the harvest.

A rockery sits on the North Eastern wing of the school. This rockery took birth as a combined and collective artistic genius of the staffs of MFSI who gave wings to their passions, which gradually turned the barren patch of land into a fantasyland. This rockery was constructed by collecting rocks and stones dug up from beneath. It consists of sculptures that have been made of bricks and pottery. Apart from these gorgeous sculptures, this spot also boasts of a miniature waterfall, which trickles down the crevices in the rocks. On the sunny side some of the cacti and succulents have been planted, while ferns and some indoor plants, planted in the shades of the rockery slopes, look natural.  Efforts have been taken to produce vibrant flowers and foliage, even in drought and heat.

A small medicinal garden – a repository of medicinal plants, signifying the rich heritage of traditional knowledge and plant diversity adorns the backyard of MFSI. These are plants, which are used for therapeutic purposes or which precursors for the synthesis of useful drugs. The main objective of growing such plants is to educate our children and give an insight to our ancient Ayurvedic system of treatment.
